This Opal Tree Mining Scene has been hand created in my shedio with much love, attention and detail. It is a one of a kind design piece that has literally taken me hours upon hours to bring to life.
It features a Squatting Miner and his accessories that have been handcast via the Lost Wax Casting method that has been used for centuries for the finest of details in jewellery and sculpture. The Frilled Neck Lizard, Wombats, Koala and Platypus' have also been created by this method.
The base is made from Crystophrase which has beautiful form, colour and patterns and is quite heavy. The tree is made from natural wood that has been treated to aquarium quality and is wrapped in copper wire and finished off with gorgeous coloured Boulder Opal chips as leaves. The tree is also wrapped in copper fairy lights that connect to an AA battery pack that is camouflaged with Opal Sand. Through the entire piece is a huge amount of genuine Australian Opal Chips that have each been meticulously chosen and placed to reflect the best colours of the opal so no matter where you look, an opal will be reflecting flashes of bright colour back at you. Underneath the tree flows a stream of opals along with a couple of miniature playpus' that have made this place their home. Also within the stream the gravel has been made with chips of Pyrite and Garnet which give it all another dimension. This One-Off piece truly has so many gorgeous colours and so many different things to look at, it's hard to describe.
